Aart Jonkers


HIGHLIGHTS:

Before joining Scott+Scott, Aart Jonkers worked for the University of Amsterdam as teacher and researcher at the Amsterdam Centre for Transformative Private Law. In both research and teaching he combined comparative law and an economic approach, offering a critical perspective on the regulation of corporate finance. At Scott+Scott Aart focuses on complex, international procedures.

BIO:

Aart obtained a master degree in European Private Law (cum laude, best of class) at the University of Amsterdam and whilst studying worked as a paralegal in corporate litigation for a large international law firm. After studying he joined the University of Amsterdam as teacher and researcher, obtained a PhD (cum laude) for his manuscript ´Insider guarantees in corporate finance: An economic analysis of Dutch, US and German law´ and co-authored ´Corporate Finance for Lawyers´ (Edward Elgar Publishing 2023). Aart taught Dutch private law courses on the bachelor and master level, international and interdisciplinary courses such as ´Finance, security & insolvency´ & ´Insolventierecht & corporate finance´ and post-academic specialization courses for lawyers in the fields of property and insolvency law. At Scott+Scott, Aart focuses on corporate litigation, often in complex, international procedures.
