Deirdre Devaney

Earlier in her career, she practiced at Robinson & Cole LLP in Hartford, handling commercial, consumer, construction, and probate litigation, along with trusts and estates.

In recent years, Ms. Devaney has expanded her work in dispute resolution. She mediates civil, housing, special education, and community matters as a pro bono mediator with the New York Peace Institute and serves as a non-public arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). She is also a pro bono arbitrator in New York Civil Court’s Small Claims program. She is currently completing a divorce mediation apprenticeship through the Center for Mediation and Training in New York City, with certification anticipated in late 2026.

Ms. Devaney earned her J.D. with Honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she served as Managing Editor of the Connecticut Journal of International Law, and her B.A. cum laude from New York University, with a double major in American and English Literature and French. She is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut and before the District Court for the District of Connecticut.

Beyond her legal career, Ms. Devaney has been an active voice in the nonprofit community, having served as Trustee, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the Finance Committee for The Country School in Madison, CT. She has also served on the boards of The Village for Families and Children in Hartford, CT and the Margreta Stage Company in Deep River, CT.

She is fluent in Icelandic and speaks conversational French.
