Job Summary
The Class-action Associate Litigation Attorney will work on shareholder derivative matters.
This is a full time, salaried role based at Scott+Scott Wilmington, Delaware office with the potential to win increasing responsibilities within the practice group and attain professional growth by demonstrating knowledge, aptitude, and skill.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Initiate shareholder demands and actions.
- Generate and answer discovery, including records requests.
- Conduct and defend basic depositions.
- Produce a high volume of legal briefs, including dispositive motions.
- Actively engage in case management.
- Regularly communicate and coordinate with co-counsel.
- Travel to depositions, meetings and hearings when necessary.
Required Competencies
- Oral Communication – Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and asks for clarification; responds well to questions; participates in meetings.
- Legal Writing – Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet the facts of the case; presents numerical data effectively; ability to read and interpret written information.
- Temperament – Demonstrates the ability to work with little supervision; prioritizes and anticipates work needs; works well under periods of pressure and short deadlines.
- Ethics – Always keeps client and firm information strictly confidential; understands and implements general rules of ethical behavior applicable to lawyers.
- Technical Skills – Advanced proficiency with Microsoft suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience with timekeeping software.
Required Education and Experience
- Admission in good standing to the any Bar in the United States
- Legal degree from accredited institution
