Paralegal


Scott+Scott is seeking a paralegal to support the lawyers in its London office. Scott+Scott is a leading boutique litigation firm specialising in complex claimant side proceedings with a focus on competition and securities law. This role would be ideal for someone who has previous litigation experience and/or who has an interest in pursuing a career in litigation.

We are looking for a bright, hardworking paralegal with strong communication and organisational skills, who will be confident working in a fast-paced, supportive, environment. The candidate will be working with lawyers and other paralegals across different case teams and, from time to time, other Scott+Scott offices so it is vital that the candidate can prioritise workstreams and communicate effectively.

The candidate will be required to manage their own workload and will be responsible for ensuring they are familiar with their cases and any upcoming deadlines. Attention to detail is also crucial.

Scott+Scott’s paralegals are integral to the London office and their role includes:

  • Producing first drafts of correspondence on both substantive and administrative issues and proofreading and finalising letters to be sent.
  • Producing indexes and bundles.
  • Proofreading and/or cross-referencing documents.
  • Disclosure and document review.
  • Finalising, filing, and serving legal documents on the court and parties.
  • Producing first drafts of routine correspondence.
  • Attending meetings and preparing detailed file notes.
  • Legal research.
  • Liaising with and organising meetings and calls with barristers (via clerks) and expert teams.
  • Organising and maintaining case files.

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A law degree, GDL diploma or equivalent of relevant experience.
  • A strong academic history (at least 2:1 or equivalent).
  • Preferably experience working as a paralegal.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of competition and securities law valued.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, keen to learn, with a high level of initiative and a strong team ethic.
  • Attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities.
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Westlaw, LexisNexis, Practical Law, CE-File and, e-disclosure platforms preferred. Training provided.

  • Must hold full UK working rights with no need for visa sponsorship.
