Shale Oil Antitrust Litigation

Scott+Scott was appointed co-lead counsel representing purchasers of crude oil-derived fuel products in an action against the largest U.S. shale oil producers alleging that they coordinated to constrain U.S. shale oil production.  Plaintiffs allege that shale oil frackers Centennial Resource, Chesapeake Energy, Continental Resource, Diamondback Energy, Pioneer Natural Resources, and other producers worked with OPEC to constrain worldwide oil production in order to inflate their profits during and coming out of the COVID pandemic.  As a result of defendants’ conduct, plaintiffs suffered substantial harm from the supracompetitive prices they paid for fuel products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, marine fuel, and jet fuel.
