Scott+Scott Supports DELREC’s Mission to Educate Students

Scott+Scott is proud to support the Delaware Law Related Education Center Inc. (DELRREC) in its efforts to provide meaningful learning experiences and skill-building opportunities for students across Delaware. Through a variety of programs and initiatives, DELREC works to deepen students’ understanding of the law, promote involvement in law-related education, highlight careers in the legal and public service sectors, and inspire interest in pursuing legal professions.

Recently, Scott+Scott attorneys Justin Reliford, Sindhu Daniel, and Karen Kam  joined 5th grade students from Thomas Edison Charter School on a tour of the Leonard Williams Justice Center led by Sean O’Sullivan, the Chief of Community Relations with the Administrative Office of the Courts.  The purpose of the tour was to educate the children about civics,  Delaware’s civil and criminal justice system generally, and the unique features of the Leonard Williams Justice Center.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to engage with the Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric M. Davis, who spoke with them about the legal process and his practical advice for students interested in pursuing legal careers.

The students were also introduced to K-9 Officer Vinn, a comfort dog who provides support in various legal settings, as well as Officer Vinn’s handler, S/Cpl Donna DiClemente.  The day ended with a game-show style civics lesson and testimonials from attorneys about their individual paths to the law.

“It was another great day with the students of Thomas Edison Charter School.  The children were enthusiastic and asked many questions. We were excited to hear that several students were discussing potential legal careers on the bus ride back to school.  We thank everyone that made the day possible”  said Scott+Scott Partner Justin Reliford.

At Scott+Scott, we believe in the importance of educating our children about the justice system. By supporting initiatives like DELREC, we are helping to cultivate the next generation of informed citizens and Delaware legal professionals.
