BIO:
Xander van Leeuwen is counsel in the Firm’s Amsterdam office. Xander focuses on the liability of financial institutions and auditors in individual and collective actions alike and has significant expertise in resolving complex cross border disputes. He is an experienced litigator who represents his clients in civil, disciplinary and arbitration proceedings. Throughout his career, Xander has been actively involved in Corporate Social Responsibility.
Before joining Scott+Scott, Xander spent over 10 years working at other renowned firms, including DLA Piper and NautaDutilh.
REPRESENTATIVE CASES:
- Representing numerous harmed companies in a cartel damages claim against truck manufacturers.
- Representing investors in a securities class action against a multinational aerospace company for late disclosures.
- Represented injured parties in collective actions brought against car manufacturers in connection to the diesel emissions scandal.
- Acting for one of the largest Dutch retailers in a post M&A dispute.
- Representing auditors in securities litigation related to the Steinhoff audit scandal.
- Acting for various Dutch banks in relation to interest rate derivatives.
ADMISSIONS:
Xander is admitted to the Dutch bar and has registered a specialization in litigation. On the basis of the registration, it is required to obtain 10 training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
