Attorneys hold workshops with kindergarten children and 8th graders to support law-related education and encourage interest in legal careers
WILMINGTON, Del. — Scott+Scott is proud to support the Delaware Law Related Education Center’s mission to provide active learning experiences and skills developments for Delaware students. Through its various programs and initiatives, DELREC seeks to foster a greater understanding of law, encourage and support student participation in law-related education, provide access to information about careers in the law and public service sector, and encourage interest in legal careers.
Scott+Scott attorneys Justin Reliford, Sindhu S. Daniel, and Paige Alderson-Smith this week attended workshops with kindergarten and 8th grade students of Thomas Edison Charter School to talk about careers in the legal profession and constitutional protections under the Fourth Amendment.
“This week’s event was as much about exposure, as it was about civics education. Exposure inspires engagement and increases opportunity. Together, exposure, engagement, and opportunity breathe life into the most important lesson of the day: ‘You can be anything you want to be’,” Scott+Scott Partner Justin Reliford said.
Paige Alderson-Smith called the opportunity to work with DELREC and the Thomas Edison Charter School “a true privilege”. “I was blown away by the students’ engagement, enthusiasm, and curiosity. It was so inspiring to see such young minds eager to learn and understand the law. The future is bright – and full of future litigators,” Ms. Alderson-Smith noted.
“Meeting these curious and enthusiastic children to discuss the legal profession was a truly fulfilling experience. Their bright questions and open hearts left me hopeful for the future of the legal field and the leaders they will become,” Scott+Scott Partner Sindhu S. Daniel said.
The program organized by DELREC’s Executive Director Betsy Renzo includes opportunities for attorneys to hold student workshops, law student lunches, and offers law firm-school partnerships.
