Co-Lead Counsel Appointment in Globe Life Inc. Case

Scott+Scott Appointed Co-Lead Counsel in Derivative Litigation Against Globe Life, Inc.

AUSTIN, TX — Scott+Scott Attorneys at Law LLP has been appointed co-lead counsel in a consolidated shareholder derivative litigation first filed in 2024 involving Globe Life Inc.. With the appointment, Judge Amos L. Mazzant, United States District Judge for the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Texas, granted the Plymouth County Retirement Association’s bid to serve as sole lead plaintiff.

In the Court order, Judge Amos L. Mazzant noted:

As co-lead counsel, Scott+Scott recently secured a mid-trial settlement for $190 million in the first Caremark oversight claim to make it to trial in Delaware history. The Court gives weight to this achievement because, ’[a]s often stated, oversight liability under Caremark is possibly the most difficult theory in corporation law upon which a plaintiff might hope to get a judgment.’ Firemen’s Ret. Sys. of St. Louis ex rel. Marriott Int’l, Inc. v. Sorenson, No. CV 2019-0965-LWW, 2021 WL 4593777, at *11 (Del. Ch. Oct. 5, 2021) (citation modified). The Court finds that this unique achievement puts Scott+Scott’s track record above that of its competitors.”

Scott+Scott Managing Partner David Scott said: “We are deeply grateful for this appointment and the recognition by Judge Mazzant. We look forward to pursuing this important matter and seeking accountability from the individual defendants.”
